Repair Tools at a Glance

Full repair and workshop guide
  • Wheel removal requires support. Put the car on a lift or jackstands before removing a wheel.
  • Rust and wear need separate treatment. A rusty part with wear or damage may need both cleaning and polishing.
  • Missing parts need compatible replacements. Match the replacement to the current engine and follow any prerequisite-part prompts.

Body rust is handled in the Paint Shop's Prep Booth, separately from cleaning detached parts. Follow the body rust removal and painting guide for that treatment.

Your First Repair Project

Full beginner guide
  1. Inspect and buy the tutorial car. Choose Play and follow the Mechanic to the Junkyard. Hold E beside the tutorial car to inspect its price and condition, then select Buy Now → Confirm.

  2. Complete the workshop repairs. Follow the green GPS route to your garage and park on the lift. Equip the Wrench, inspect the prompted parts, and treat their faults as directed. Reinstall the repaired or replacement parts before closing the hood and lowering the car.

  3. Prepare and paint the body. Follow GPS to the Paint Shop. Use Strip Paint in the Prep Booth to remove body rust and apply primer, then move to the Paint Booth. Choose a color, review the price, and confirm. Stay in the car inside each booth until its treatment finishes.

  4. Sell the restored car. Drive to the Used-Car Dealer marked Sell Used Cars, get out, and hold E at Sell Your Car. Review the dealer's offer before selecting Sell for the displayed amount.

  5. Finish any remaining tutorial objectives. If the Mechanic identifies a missing Wiring Harness, order Wiring for the currently installed engine from Parts Direct. Install it at the marked engine-bay position, then enter the car and start it.

  6. Choose your next project. Open Customer Jobs at the Workshop workbench and use the shop tablet to review and approve waiting customers. Choose work that fits your repair skills and budget, or buy another car to restore and keep or sell. The money guide compares customer work with other income activities.

FAQ

How often does the Junkyard refresh its cars?

The Junkyard follows a 12-minute stock cycle. Watch Next Refresh: new cars appear when the countdown expires, and the timer resets to 11:59. The Junkyard guide explains inspection and buying.

Does opening an Auction Garage guarantee a car?

No. An Auction Garage can award cash or a vehicle. Check the Auction Garage rewards and odds before spending on an opening.

Why can't I install an engine part?

If the game says the part does not fit the current engine, select a replacement with the matching engine-model label. If it says to install another part first, complete that assembly prerequisite before retrying. Use the engine-model filter when shopping for replacement parts.
