Mechanic Legends Paint Shop: Remove Rust and Change Color

Last updated:

Mirror Finish Paint Shop lets you prepare a rusty car body and give it a new color. Each job uses a different booth.

For a rusty body, drive into the Prep Booth and select Strip Paint to remove the old paint and rust and apply primer. The paint removal cannot be undone. Then drive into the Paint Booth, stay in the car, choose a color, check the price and wait for painting to finish.

Choose Prep Booth or Paint Booth

At Mirror Finish Paint Shop, use the Prep Booth to remove old paint and body rust and apply primer. Use the Paint Booth to apply a new color. Prepare a rusty body first, then move it to the Paint Booth.

Rust on removed parts is a separate job for the Ultrasonic Cleaner. See how to clean and polish parts for that process. During the tutorial, a green GPS route leads from the Workshop to the Paint Shop; the facilities guide covers other destinations.

  2. Select Strip Paint and confirm the prompt. This removes the current paint, and the removal cannot be undone.
  3. Stay in the car while Removing Rust runs. Wait for the progress and remaining-time display to finish.
  4. Confirm the completion message, then drive the primed car to the Paint Booth. The prep charge is taken when the service finishes.

Paint and Prep Cost Examples

Check the quote for your car before confirming. These are individual jobs, with prep charged separately from paint:

Car and finish Paint cost Prep cost
1999 Avelin C4, blue $120 —
1998 Avelin C4 Wagon, blue $140 —
2003 Mizora MT8, dark green $200 $1,000 for rust removal and primer

The Wagon's blue paint job took approximately 6 seconds. The MT8's prep and paint together cost $1,200. If you plan to sell a restored car, include both charges alongside your other expenses when calculating its resale margin.
