How to Clean and Polish Parts in Mechanic Legends
Last updated:
Rusty and worn parts need different workshop treatments in Mechanic Legends. Remove the affected part, use the equipment that matches its condition, and reinstall it when the work is done.
Use the Ultrasonic Cleaner to remove rust from a removed part and the Part Polisher to repair wear and damage. Wait for each treatment to finish before retrieving the part. If the polisher says it is fully repaired, reinstall it instead of polishing it again.
Choose the Right Treatment
| Condition | Treatment |
|---|---|
| Rust on a removed part | Ultrasonic Cleaner |
| Wear or damage on a removed part | Part Polisher |
| Rust on the car body | Prep Booth |
A part can need both cleaning and polishing. For rust on the body itself, use the Prep Booth; see the paint shop guide for that process.
Clean and Polish a Removed Part
- Bring the car to the Workshop, equip the Wrench, and remove the affected part.
- If the part is rusty, place it in the Ultrasonic Cleaner. Wait for cleaning to finish, then retrieve it.
- If it also needs wear or damage repair, place it on the Part Polisher. Wait for polishing to finish, then collect it.
- Return the treated part to its mounting point and install it, following any prerequisite prompts.
The Radiator tutorial directs you to clean it first and then take it to the polisher. An Intercooler can also be polished before cleaning, so choose the treatments the part needs rather than relying on one fixed order.
Parts and the Fully Repaired Message
The Part Polisher can treat an Intercooler, Exhaust Manifold, Transmission, or Valve Cover. The Radiator tutorial also directs you to the polisher after cleaning.
If the polisher says a part is fully repaired, it cannot be polished further. For example, an MT8 Passenger Door can still look rusty while receiving that message; return it to the car instead of trying another polishing cycle.
Reinstall or Replace Parts
Take each treated part back to its mounting point. If the game asks for another part first, install that prerequisite before continuing. For example, an Exhaust Manifold may need to be fitted before another component.
Replacement is another option for parts in poor condition: in one 1.6L Inline-4 repair, the Block and Exhaust Manifold were replaced while other components were polished. Choose parts that match the engine or vehicle, and use Parts Direct to order them. You can polish other removed parts while waiting for a delivery.
